Steven A Barrett M.D. F.A.A.F.P.

Steven Barrett was born in Rye New York and grew up in Bethesda, Maryland outside of Washington, DC. He attended high school for three years in Switzerland while his father worked at the American embassy in Poland, then graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover. He next graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1969 and from Harvard Medical School in 1972. He completed his specialty training in Family Practice at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver in 1975 and then also completed a one-year fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine before returning East. He obtained his original American Board of Family Medicine certification in 1975 and has successfully completed the re-certification examination and requirements every six years since then. He also became a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 1995. Dr. Barrett established his private practice in Family Medicine in Manchester in 1976 and has remained there ever since. In 1997, he was one of the original-founding partners of Family Medicine Associates. He is thrilled to work with such top-notch coworkers, but his biggest professional satisfaction is the wonderful patients in the practice.

In addition, Dr. Barrett has enjoyed teaching medical students from Boston University, Tufts, Harvard, and UMass medical schools at his practice and has been active both locally and nationally in the Academy of Family Practice in medical schools and everyday practice. He has also been active in local medical staff affairs, ultimately as President of the Northeast Health Systems Medical Staff from 1996 -8 promoting high quality medical care and improved customer service (which remain his passionate concern).

Dr. Barrett is very happily married to Debbye and has 3 children, who give him his greatest joy. They currently reside in Hamilton. He loves sports, photography, music and theatre.
